Freas and Frey do NOT sound alike. Freas sounds just like it is spelled.

Really? Carnegie Mellon says Freas is pronounced as we Americans say "freeze," but my Latino friends might say Free-Ahs. And if it was French, it would sound like "fray." And besides, who cares?
