Who are the best instructional development shops, developers, etc.?
- Who's the best custom e-learning development companies?
- Who's the best off-the-shelf e-learning development companies?
- Who are the best developers?
- Who is being the most innovative?
Just curious...
And what criteria would you use to decide?
[Off the cuff answer here.]
First, I would say that the answers to these four questions are NOT e-learning companies. For instance, the best learning platform is Google. The most innovative may be Flickr. IMO, the best learning companies/developers are those that let people do things that they couldn't do before . These would also include Gmail, Blogger, Skype & Wikipedia.

To echo Harold's thought, I'd add that the best learning platform is web-based.
The most innovative are open source and social networking/collaboration solutions.
The best learning companies will capitalize on both, creating new "killer apps" that let people do things they couldn't before.
